Drain on the road underneath the edge of the bridge on the right hand side of Haw Lane when going towards the A4010

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9532178.

The grating/drain in the road has now been completely blocked for 5 or 6 months such that it hasn't been visible at all for this whole period. It is completely full of stones/grit and earth and is covered in several inches of silt. Nobody can have inspected it without first scraping off considerable earth/grit on the road side which hasn't happened in the last few months. When ever it rains the road floods very quickly because there is nowhere else for the water to drain away - this is all in the dip of the road which goes under the bridge. KIV that a shovel will be needed to clear the build up of silt/grit etc to expose the grate itself when it is to be inspected.

    We know that an important part of any road network is the drainage system which is designed to carry water away from the road surface. Even when a gully is clean and well maintained it will only cope with a certain volume of water at one time, a sudden and heavy downpour can still cause flooding especially if the road is in a low lying area.

    The Highway Officer is only able to inspect the drain when the water has cleared away, this will be done within 10 days and if required, an order will be raised to clear the drain.
