Overgrown trees/hedges completely blocking pavement and street sign on Gallows Lane

Reported via mobile in the Tree blocking traffic signal/sign category anonymously at 21:04, Monday 27 April 2026

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9363821.

The trees and hedges at this location have become so overgrown that the public footpath is now completely blocked. This is a major safety hazard for my family. I walk this route every day to take my two young children (aged 4 and 5) to school. Because the pavement is blocked, we are forced to walk into the road, which is dangerous. My 4-year-old son has Autism and a disability, making it even more difficult and frightening for him to navigate this obstruction Additionally, the 'Gallows Lane' street sign is now almost entirely covered by ivy, making it hard for emergency services to see Please clear this vegetation as soon as possible to make the school run safe for my children again

Updates

  • A Highway Officer will carry out an initial assessment of the tree, emergency issues will be corrected or made safe at the time of the inspection, if reasonably practicable to do so. In this context, making safe may constitute displaying warning notices, coning‐off or fencing‐off to protect the public from the tree or other suitable action.

If the inspection team cannot make safe the defect at the time of inspection, then they will instigate the relevant emergency call procedures to ensure appropriate resources are mobilised cut back the tree which is blocking the signal, this may involve some traffic management and/or a cherry picker.

There may also be occasions when the issue reported will be classified as a minor defect and does not pose any risk to either the safety or the integrity of the highway, these are called minimum recording levels as specified in our Highways Safety Inspection Policy, in these cases no action will be taken.
