This damaged manhole is just to the right of my driveway (Oakwood View, One Pin Lane) as you look towards the road from my house.

I am reporting this issue again as there has been no activity from the Highways team to repair this damaged manhole, despite much chasing from my local councillor David Moore. The original damage was repaired last August/September & it took 2 years of complaining to get that done. Unfortunately, 2 weeks after the repair, One Pin Lane became a diversion route for traffic coming off the A355 to enable the repair of a burst water main at the traffic lights on One Pin Lane junction with the A355. We has cars, vans, lorrie’s & 44 ton juggernauts driving down One Pin Lane for nearly 2 weeks. The sheer volumes of traffic & weight of vehicles passing over the manhole, the cover collapsed. That all happened in early October 2025. Since then, the only activity was from a Frontline drainage cleaning team, who came last week to pump out debris & water. They cleared the manhole, and when I spoke to them they informed me that the water ingress is from a leaking water main & the manhole is so badly damaged it will need completely rebuilding to avert it imminent total collapse. Given the danger to pedestrians & vehicles, plus the concern of pulling out of our driveway when visibility is poor, it’s disappointing that the highways team have not sorted out the problem. As a result of the lack of action, the open side of the road is now breaking up badly, which is going to require resurfacing work to resolve. Given over 5 months have passed since this was first reported I would appreciate your help in getting this sorted out now as a matter of urgency. I will continue to press David Moore to get urgent intervention on fixing this issue. Best wishes, Kevin Blakemore

Almost all manhole covers have some form of identification on them, and it is likely that the manhole cover is owned by a utility company, who are legally responsible for maintaining it.
This report has been passed to the Highway Officer, who will carry out an inspection within the next 10 working days and if it is found to be the responsibility of Buckinghamshire Highways we will take the appropriate action. If, however, it is found to be the responsibility of the utility company we will report the issue to them, but please note we have no control regarding how long it will take to be fixed by the utility company.
