Looks to be an open drain on Scarlett Avenue outside the corner house of Nocton Hall Drive

Reported via mobile in the Manhole cover broken/missing category anonymously at 21:53, Saturday 21 February 2026

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8970960.

Probably due to car parked in the narrow section of road all vehicles including HGvs and bin Lorries have had to drive over the drain cover. This has caused it to become loose and it rattles waking people in the neighbourhood at all times of day. It has been attempted to be fixed by residents with rubber hose but keeps dislodging due to volume of traffic. Please can it be assessed and fixed as is disturbing residents and despite residents attempts to remedy this hasn't been successful. Thank you.

Updates

  • Almost all manhole covers have some form of identification on them, and it is likely that the manhole cover is owned by a utility company, who are legally responsible for maintaining it.

This report has been passed to the Highway Officer, who will carry out an inspection within the next 10 working days and if it is found to be the responsibility of Buckinghamshire Highways we will take the appropriate action. If, however, it is found to be the responsibility of the utility company we will report the issue to them, but please note we have no control regarding how long it will take to be fixed by the utility company.
