Pavement outside 25(a) Friars Furlong

Reported via desktop in the Footpath / pavement problem category anonymously at 09:18, Thursday 5 February 2026

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8842971.

There is ongoing water pooling and runoff across the public pavement outside this property. Rainwater appears to flow from the driveway across the footpath and onto the road, creating a persistent puddle and muddy area. The pavement is uneven and the small verge between the pavement and the road is heavily worn and waterlogged. It has deteriorated into a muddy patch due to poor drainage, and it no longer functions as usable green space.

Updates

  • The report has been passed to the Highway Officer, who will carry out an inspection of the issue within 10 working days, emergency defects will be corrected or made safe at the time of the inspection, if reasonably practicable to do so. In this context, making safe may constitute displaying warning notices, coning‐off or fencing‐off to protect the public from the defect or other suitable action. If the inspection team cannot make safe the defect at the time of inspection, then they will instigate the relevant emergency call procedures to ensure appropriate resources are mobilised to make the defect safe.

There may also be occasions when the issue reported will not be repaired as it has been classified as a minor defect and does not pose any risk to either the safety or the integrity of the highway, these are called minimum recording levels as specified in our Highways Safety Inspection Policy.

  • Update

The Highway Officer has carried out an inspection and has identified that there is no immediate safety issue, even when a gully is clean and well maintained it will only cope with a certain volume of water at one time, a sudden and heavy downpour can still cause flooding especially if the road is in a low lying area, this generally clears away over a matter of hours.

It is not financially viable for us to action all non-safety issues in isolation, these non-safety issues are added to a package of works for the area. In addition, all our roads are subject to Safety Inspections, and this includes identifying drainage issues, we also have a gully clearance programme where we inspect and clear all 85,000 Buckinghamshire owned gully’s annually.

If your property is in danger of flooding please refer to the flooding information and guidance on the Buckinghamshire website
