Road outside 16 Orchard Lane Prestwood

This was reported in February under reference 7194681and nothing has been done. When our lane was re-surfaced the tarmac was laid up to the top of the kerbstones. This covered the drainage gully preventing rain water to flow along to the storm drain outside 14 Orchard Lane. Instead it flows down our drive like a river and pools by our front door. This has caused our shingle drive to de-grade with a heavy growth of moss plus our lawn becomes sodden. We had requested that the gully be re-instated by removing a strip of tarmac thus allowing the water to flow to the drain as it always had done with no problem. No one has contacted us to explain why this hasn’t been done or given us a timescale for the fix. The recent bout of heavy rain is just exacerbating the problem.

If the flooding is caused by a water leak we will report it to the relevant water company, who are responsible for water leaks.
There are occasions when flash flooding overloads the drain/gully, even when a drain/gully is clean and well maintained it can only cope with a certain volume of water at one time, a sudden and heavy downpour can still cause flooding especially if the road is in a low lying area, this generally clears away over a matter of hours.
The Highway Officer is only able to inspect the drain when the water has cleared away, this will be done within 10 days and if required, an order will be raised to clear the drain.

Buckinghamshire Highways operates two types of highway maintenance, both have the same objectives which are to put in place the right road and transport infrastructure to enable residents, visitors, and businesses to move around the county in a safe and efficient way.
1. General Maintenance overseen by the Highway Local Area Technicians, who assess all customer enquiries and take the appropriate action.2. Capital Maintenance Projects, these are longer-term projects for maintaining the Council highways. The Capital Maintenance Projects are all agreed by elected members in Buckinghamshire and overseen by the Capital Maintenance Project Team.
The Local Area Technician has assessed this enquiry and forwarded the details to the Capital Maintenance Team as this is one of their bigger projects.
