Between 46 and 54 The Avenue

The Pipe between the curbweir outside 44 The Avenue and the manhole cover outside 54 The Avenue is blocked.
This causes water to exit the curbweir outside 44 The Avenue which floods the road as it cannot drain further down the road. This causes flooding at 63 The Avenue which enters their house and very nearly caused flooding at 61 and 55 The Avenue.
This issue and the blockage between 54 and 78 The Avenue need to be cleared to avoid flooding. because the road surface outside 61 The Avenue was raised when the Council resurfaced the road and stops water running down the road and into the ditch at the bottom of The Avenue. A blockage in either section will cause flooding in this area.
The site was inspected with me by Colin Woolford and Colin requested that the Parish Council arrange for the ditch to be cleared so that the pipes can be inspected and jetted.
The ditch has now been cleared and is ready for the Council to clear the pipes.

If the flooding is caused by a water leak we will report it to the relevant water company, who are responsible for water leaks.
There are occasions when flash flooding overloads the drain/gully, even when a drain/gully is clean and well maintained it can only cope with a certain volume of water at one time, a sudden and heavy downpour can still cause flooding especially if the road is in a low lying area, this generally clears away over a matter of hours.
The Highway Officer is only able to inspect the drain when the water has cleared away, this will be done within 10 days and if required, an order will be raised to clear the drain.

An order has been raised to repair the issue reported, this will be a permanent repair to be carried out as soon as possible. However, there are occasions when a temporary repair is carried out for safety reasons until such time as we can mobilise resources to make the repair permanent.
To ensure the highway network remains as safe as possible we will continue to carry out our regular Highways Safety Inspections which will include this issue until such times as the permanent repair is made
