Blocked Pipe
Reported via desktop in the Blocked drain category by Graeme Wright (Worminghall Parish Council) at 12:40, Mon 28 July 2025
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7943009.
The pipe somewhere between the Manhole cover on the opposite side of the street to 61 The Avenue and the outfall into the ditch at the bottom of the Avenue near 78 the Avenue is blocked. In the 2024/25 winter this caused flooding on the road which entered 61 and 63 The Avenue.
The Parish Council was asked to arrange to have the ditch at the bottom of the Avenue cleared such that the Council could come and Jet the pipes (as the ditch was also blocked).
The ditch has now been cleared so the pipe can now be Jetted.

This has been passed to the Highway Officer to investigate.
We know that an important part of any road network is the drainage system which is designed to carry water away from the road surface. Even when a gully is clean and well maintained it will only cope with a certain volume of water at one time, a sudden and heavy downpour can still cause flooding especially if the road is in a low lying area.
The Highway Officer is only able to inspect the drain when the water has cleared away, this will be done within 10 days and if required, an order will be raised to clear the drain.

An order has been raised to repair the issue reported, this will be a permanent repair to be carried out as soon as possible. However, there are occasions when a temporary repair is carried out for safety reasons until such time as we can mobilise resources to make the repair permanent.
To ensure the highway network remains as safe as possible we will continue to carry out our regular Highways Safety Inspections which will include this issue until such times as the permanent repair is made
