On Winterton Drive, just past the turning for Booker Park School entrance.

Reported via desktop in the Parking on double yellow lines category by Brian Smith at 08:57, Friday 20 June 2025

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council 1 hour, 27 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 7737471.

I do not think that the last report about this was read properly as the update talked about faded road markings. I am not asking about faded road markings but a extension of the double yellow lines. Again today the roads are blocked both ways and the taxi drivers are getting out and arguing with the other drivers as no one can get in or out of the school. This can be helped by extending the double yellow lines and removing 2 car parking spaced on the curve of the road. Below is the original request. Could you consider painting double yellow lines on the small parking area on the bend, on Winterton Drive, just past the turning for Booker Park School. You would only loose parking for 2 cars, but would alleviate the blocked road problem that happens twice a day at 9am and 3pm when cars and busses are arriving to drop off at or pick up children from the school. This happens because drivers will not give way where the cars are parked and so the entrance to the school, Kynaston avenue and Winterton drive gets blocked and drivers blow their horns and school staff often have to come out to sort out the blockage. It is also dangerous that there is parking on the bend as drivers race around there and and overtake the parked cars and nearly cause an accident. You would not be loosing much parking, but would gain so much, as it would be safer and the roads would not get blocked, as there would be 2 way traffic at that part of the junction. If you came to see the problem for yourself at either 9am or 3pm on a school day, you would probably agree that this would solve the main problem with the road blockage at these times. Thank you.

Updates

  • This has been passed to the Highway Officer to investigate, they will carry out an inspection within the next 10 working days.

All our roads are subject to safety inspections, and this includes identifying any markings that are badly damaged or degraded so we may already be aware of this issue and have raised a job to have them refreshed if this is the case we will update you that it is a duplicate job/enquiry.

If we were not aware of this issue, we will update you on what action will be taken, this may include adding the road markings to a package of works to be carried out at a later date.

Please note, the ambient temperature drops, and the air becomes much more humid during the winter months and materials won’t bond with the surface when it’s wet, defeating the purpose of applying them at all. Adding markings to a wet surface will essentially mean they become diluted. The moisture present on the road and also in the air will affect the finished quality of the markings, impacting their appearance and longevity, for this reason we only refresh road markings during winter months if there is a specific safety issue.

There may also be occasions when the issue reported will not be repaired as it has been classified as a minor defect and does not pose any risk to either the safety or the integrity of the highway, these are called minimum recording levels as specified in our Highways Safety Inspection Policy in these cases no action will be taken.
