Footpath, by green fence from Railway Walk to London Road, dangerous branch and foliage

Reported via desktop in the Open spaces category anonymously at 12:01, Tue 17 June 2025

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council 6 days, 4 hours, 49 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 7722477.

I have already contacted Buckingham Town Council and they have informed me that this footpath is Buckinghamshire Council responsibility. Please update your definitive map. Last evening I walked from Railway Walk to London Road in Buckingham. A quarter of the way down the footpath there is a branch that is overhanging the footpath. The foliage and branch are now encroaching onto the footpath. On looking up I noticed that the branch has split from the tree above, the diameter of the branch is about six inches. If it was to fall on someone it could seriously injure someone. This branch needs urgent attention. While you are there about twenty metres further down the footpath is another small branch that is across the footpath, this small branch is supported by the green fence and also needs cutting off so it is not hanging across the footpath.

Updates

  • All wild birds are protected. This includes their nests (whilst in use or being built) as well as any eggs the nest may contain. Under the Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981 (as amended), it is an offence to:
    • intentionally kill, injure or take any wild bird
    • intentionally damage, destroy or take the nest of any wild bird while it is in use or being built (nests of golden eagle, white tailed eagle and osprey are protected all year round)
    • intentionally destroy an egg of any wild bird
    • intentionally or recklessly disturb certain wild birds or their dependent young while they are nesting (including disturbance of nesting young)
Although no dates are legally stated between which hedges cannot be trimmed, cut, laid or coppiced, the main bird breeding season is recognised as being between 1 March and 31 July which we adhere to. Please note, if the issue reported is classified by our Highway Officer as an emergency, arrangements will be made to make the hedge safe for both road and pedestrian users in line with our Highways Safety Inspection Policy.
