Sent to Buckinghamshire Council 54 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 7715788.
Over the past weekend two signs have illegally been placed advertising a GUNSHOP in Leighton Buzzard, see photos. There are also other similar signs in the area and this company has done the same previously. This is effectively flytipping and action should be taken against this company.

The Highway Officer will attend the site plotted on the map and make arrangements for the unauthorised sign to be removed.
As part of our highway management strategy, unauthorised signs will be removed from the highway, removal will be prioritised according to highway safety, resource requirements and the interests of the community. The Council may exercise their discretion not to enforce in some situations (e.g., small scale charity events).
These signs will be held for 28 days and there will be a storage fee of the unauthorised signs that do not comply with this policy where applicable.

Update It is an offence under the under Section 149(2) Highways Act 1980 to place on the highway any goods or signs which cause an obstruction or include commercial advertising. As the Highway Authority, we may remove any picture, letter, sign or other mark which has, without consent or authorisation or an enactment, been painted or inscribed or fixed on the highway or on any tree, structure or works on or in the highway, in order to:
- Ensure the clear visibility, which is vital at road junctions, where pedestrians cross, and at other access points
- Consider the safety and convenience of all pedestrians, especially those with poor eyesight, elderly or disabled people and those with prams, wheelchairs etc
- Ensure a driver's attention is not distracted by any unnecessary increase in the number of these signs
