Re: Outrageous Mismanagement of Diversion Signage – Uxbridge Road Closure at Crooked Billet Roundabout
I am writing to express my utter frustration and disbelief at the appallingly incompetent management of road closure diversions near the Crooked Billet Roundabout on Uxbridge Road, which I encountered earlier today while driving back from Uxbridge.
Upon reaching the roundabout, I was met with a closure and diversion signs instructing an alternate route. I followed these instructions in good faith, only to find myself, after an unnecessary and fuel-wasting detour past Pinewood Studios, looping right back to the very starting point — the Crooked Billet Roundabout itself.
Let me be crystal clear: this is an absolute disgrace.
This diversion, evidently thrown together with no regard for logic, clarity, or practical outcome, not only wasted a significant amount of my time, but also forced me to burn unnecessary fuel — an unacceptable situation during a time when cost of living and environmental awareness are both of national concern.
It is astonishing that such a fundamental aspect of traffic management — effective and intelligible diversion signage — could be so grossly mismanaged. This raises serious questions about the competence and oversight of the responsible body, whether that be the local council, Highways England, or Transport for London.
I demand the following: 1. A full investigation into how and why such a flawed diversion was implemented. 2. An explanation of who authorised and designed the route. 3. Immediate rectification of the signage to prevent further disruption to other motorists. 4. An apology and confirmation that future diversion routes will be tested and verified before implementation.
If this level of negligence occurred in any other professional setting, there would be accountability and consequence. The same must .

The Street Lighting Team aim to repair all faulty lighting within 20 working days, however, there may be some circumstances that this time for repairs is be extended. For example, if it is an electricity supply fault, this will be passed to the local electricity network operator to attend and rectify as we cannot work on their network, in these cases we will update you to let you know it is an electricity supply fault.
