Ongoing drainage system - Bradenham Wood Lane
Reported via desktop in the Flooding on a road/footpath category anonymously at 15:56, Thu 15 May 2025
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7575104.
Customer has called to discuss ongoing issue - Storm drains/gully's in Bradenham Wood lane and this flows down to Ashburnham drive but this road gets effected and causes flooding issues. These have been reported numerous times by different residents over a long period to request the drains are cleared and maintained to allow rainfall to drain away but this is yet to take place. Walters Ash is recognised as flood risk area so drain maintenance is important. Due to the lack of maintenance, a recent rainfall caused the area to flood and resulted in damage to property Ashburnham Cottage , and the cost of damage to IT equipment is up to tens of thousands of pounds. Please can the drains be cleared, and regularly maintained to stop this issue from reoccurring.

Updates

If the flooding is caused by a water leak we will report it to the relevant water company, who are responsible for water leaks.
There are occasions when flash flooding overloads the drain/gully, even when a drain/gully is clean and well maintained it can only cope with a certain volume of water at one time, a sudden and heavy downpour can still cause flooding especially if the road is in a low lying area, this generally clears away over a matter of hours.
The Highway Officer is only able to inspect the drain when the water has cleared away, this will be done within 10 days and if required, an order will be raised to clear the drain.
