Incorrect information provided for payment of parking

Reported via desktop in the Faulty pay machine category anonymously at 20:06, Friday 7 March 2025

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7243606.

On 7th March 2025 I visited the Liston Road car Park in Marlow but found that the payment machine was not working. A notice on the payment machine stated that, as an alternative, payments for parking could be made by telephoning 01753-202000 (see accompanying photograph). When I telephoned this number, however, I received a recorded announcement stating “Welcome to Ringo. Unfortunately our IVR service is unavailable on for this phone number. Please download our app or visit myringo.com to access the service. We will send you a text message shortly to help with this”. The text message subsequently received stated “Sorry, we can t park you. To pay with RingGo, please download our app or visit myringgo.com and select “Forgotten password?” to activate your account”. Not having a smartphone, I was unable to download the app nor visit myringgo.com. I would be grateful, therefore, if could explain please (i) why the IVR service was unavailable on the telephone number advertised for making parking payments or (ii) why a valid telephone number for making parking payments wasn’t advertised and, finally (iii) what benefit is Buckinghamshire Council attempting to enjoy by not providing visitors to the Liston Road car Park in Marlow (many of whom will be paying their council tax to Buckinghamshire Council) accurate information to enable them to make appropriate payments for parking.
