Reported via desktop in the Street light dim category anonymously at 13:32, Thursday 6 February 2025

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7096121.

We are carrying out work here linked to Opportunity Bucks Quality of Public Realm improvements and have permission from Network Rail to work on the bridge to install public art. The lighting needs to be brighter, and the signage needs updating.

Updates

  • The Street Lighting Team aim to repair all faulty lighting within 20 working days, however, there may be some circumstances that this time for repairs is be extended. For example, if it is an electricity supply fault, this will be passed to the local electricity network operator to attend and rectify as we cannot work on their network, in these cases we will update you to let you know it is an electricity supply fault.

We are experiencing a system issue at the moment which is stopping us from providing updates on lighting issues, please be assured all street lighting defects are being inspected and fixed but until we have resolved the updates issue you may see the light fixed without receiving any updates.

We know that faulty lighting is very important to our residents, and we take all reported issues very seriously. In the latter part of 2023, we recruited night scouts to review all of the 40,000 lighting assets we maintain in Buckinghamshire, the information from this review and all customer reported issues are now being addressed and will be resolved as soon as possible.

  • Update

Buckinghamshire Highways operates two methods for safety defect identification; proactively by Highway Inspectors who identify safety defects in line with Buckinghamshire Councils' Highways Safety Inspection Policy and reactively by Local Area Technicians following reports from the public. On receipt of reports, our Highway Inspection team make an assessment, determine if works are required and if so, the appropriate response times and repair method. It is in these instances only the larger defects are repaired; those which meet the safety intervention levels as outlined in the Inspection Policy. Any remaining defects are monitored for deterioration and added to other programmes of work for repair when resources are available. We also monitor and inspect the quality of repairs aiming to ensure that any work is carried out to the best and most appropriate standard.

Whilst priority defects will receive a repair within appropriate timescales as dictated by the above policy, more minor defects such as the defect you have reported may not be immediately scheduled for repair. An order for a repair remains in our system for when resource allows and we will continue to monitor the location for any further deterioration.

State changed to: No further action
