Suspected blocked pipe between drains causing standing water in driveway and garage of 17 Hill Meadow, Coleshill

Reported via desktop in the Blocked drain category by Cllr Carl Jackson at 12:57, Monday 6 January 2025

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6938487.

The drain by 17 Hill Meadow and the one next to it (closer to 14 Hill Meadow) were both clear of mud at the time I looked, but there was some water in the bottom of both of them. I am told they were cleared recently.

However, the fact that the water level was much higher in the drain nearer No.14 than in the drain by No.17 suggests the water is not flowing freely from one to the other. My guess is that the pipe between them needs jetting through.

That should allow water to flow from the drain by No. 14 into the drain by No.17, and then on through the pipe towards the play area to the west of No.17. Hopefully that will solve the problem.

Updates

  • This has been passed to the Highway Officer to investigate.

We know that an important part of any road network is the drainage system which is designed to carry water away from the road surface. Even when a gully is clean and well maintained it will only cope with a certain volume of water at one time, a sudden and heavy downpour can still cause flooding especially if the road is in a low lying area.

The Highway Officer is only able to inspect the drain when the water has cleared away, this will be done within 10 days and if required, an order will be raised to clear the drain.
