Stanbridge Road, opposite Mead Furlong / Fairfield Close
Reported via desktop in the Ditch issue category by Haddenham Parish Council at 16:55, Thu 5 December 2024
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6824303.
During the flooding in September a large amount of surface water from Stanbridge road flowed on to the new housing developments on to the west, contributing to flooding. There used to be drainage channels that allowed water to flow from the road into the ditch on Stanbridge Road. If these channels could be reinstated it should help reduce the flood risk.

We know that an important part of any road network is the drainage system which is designed to carry water away from the road surface. As a general rule ditches along the side of the road are the responsibility of whoever owns the land on which they are situated, they should maintain and keep the ditch capable of carrying water away from the road.
The Highway Officer will carry out an inspection within 10 days and if it is the responsibility of Buckinghamshire Council and work is required, we will raise and order and have the work done.
If the responsibility is with the landowner, we will not use taxpayers money to carry out the work, we will write to the land owner and request they carry out the necessary work on their land.
