Reported via mobile in the Blocked drain category by Philippa Greensmith at 08:59, Thursday 28 November 2024

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council 1 day, 8 hours, 36 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 6794774.

A slow-moving vehicle attending to verges or gutters was indicating to fast traffic with Stop and Go board signs held by staff on the vehicle. This is dangerous. I overtook on the green Go, but the oncoming driver did not see the Stop and had to swerve into the verge. I don’t blame the driver - who is looking out for unlit Stop signs on an oncoming vehicle? And where would she stop, anyway? Safer to have no signs and allow drivers to overtake in the normal fashion. I would never normally overtake in these circumstances. I would be grateful if you could kindly pass this on to the department that deals with this situation. I feel very strongly about this dangerous situation.

  • This has been passed to the Highway Officer to investigate.

We know that an important part of any road network is the drainage system which is designed to carry water away from the road surface. Even when a gully is clean and well maintained it will only cope with a certain volume of water at one time, a sudden and heavy downpour can still cause flooding especially if the road is in a low lying area.

The Highway Officer is only able to inspect the drain when the water has cleared away, this will be done within 10 days and if required, an order will be raised to clear the drain.

    State changed to: Open
