Quiltings Square Marlow

Reported via desktop in the Parking in a restricted space category anonymously at 20:08, Wed 20 November 2024

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6765652.

Quoitings Square has always been a free car park until recently, when the council installed a paid meter parking restriction which I do not have a problem with. However, having tried to park there recently on three separate occasions I noted that nearly every parking space was taken by a car inside which was an A4 stating the car was Platts of Marlow! None of these vehicles were displaying any paid tickets and none had any fixed penalty tickets. Platts DO NOT own this land and for over 60 yrs it has been used by members of the public especially nearby residents and also those visiting nearby businesses. It is absolutely wrong that Platts are trying to monopolise the parking area. Some of the cars are un-taxed according to the DVLA website and some can even be found on the website for sale. I doubt if they have planning permission to sell cars from Quoitings Square. The council must do something about this as the area is supposed to be for anyone not just Platts Garage!

Updates

  • This has been passed to the Parking Services Team.

Subject to available resources, a civil enforcement officer (traffic warden) will go and assess, and if a vehicle is parked in contravention of a parking restriction, a penalty charge notice may be issued.
