Reported via mobile by Charles S Cornell at 15:47, Tue 5 November 2024

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council 2 weeks, 1 day, 44 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 6697913.

The open drainage ditch that runs down Moreton Road and then turns right down the back of the houses No2 to No.12 Bradfield Ave. Then goes into an underground pipe approx. 45CM diameter running under the garden of No12 Bradfield Ave. into a drain under Bradfield Ave. Were the ditch drains into the 45CM it keeps getting blocked up causing a flood down Bradfield Ave. ever time it rains hard. I have cleared the pipe twice and it is OK for several months but then blocks up again. I have videos of the river coming down the road. Rubbish collected by the bars guarding the pipe then collects sediment blocking entry to the pipe.

Updates

  • This has been passed to the Highway Officer to investigate.

We know that an important part of any road network is the drainage system which is designed to carry water away from the road surface. Even when a gully is clean and well maintained it will only cope with a certain volume of water at one time, a sudden and heavy downpour can still cause flooding especially if the road is in a low lying area.

The Highway Officer is only able to inspect the drain when the water has cleared away, this will be done within 10 days and if required, an order will be raised to clear the drain.
