Butlers Close and Woodfield Park, Amersham

Reported via desktop in the Parking in a restricted space category anonymously at 16:45, Sun 6 October 2024

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6558184.

On Sunday mornings when Amersham and Chesham Rugby club are holding major competitions, large numbers of cars are parked on pavements, grass verges, double yellow lines, between cones etc on neighbouring roads, causing significant disruption. The attached photos show parking in Butlers Close and Woodfield Park that would be likely to impede access by large emergency vehicles emergency services in the event of an emergency. I called Thames Valley Police, who said they could not do anything unless an emergency vehicle was actually being obstructed at the time I was calling. I said that it was in the very nature of emergencies that they arose unexpectedly, and I requested that preventive action should be taken, with a visit to the area by a police patrol to assess the situation. I was advised instead to report the problem to the council.
