I am writing to draw your attention to the severely deteriorated condition of the road and pavements on Woodlands Glade, Beaconsfield, and to request immediate action to address these issues.
As the local authority, Buckinghamshire Council has a statutory duty under the Highways Act 1980 and associated legislation to maintain adopted roads and pavements to a safe and usable standard. This includes a responsibility to ensure that surfaces are free from defects and that vegetation does not obstruct pedestrian access.
Specifically, I wish to highlight the following issues on Woodlands Glade:
Road Surface: The road surface throughout the cul-de-sac has significantly deteriorated, presenting a hazard to vehicles and pedestrians. Pavement Overgrowth: The pavements are currently inaccessible due to excessive vegetation growth. This overgrowth makes it impossible to safely navigate the pavement with a pram or pushchair and poses a tripping hazard to all pedestrians.
These conditions clearly fall below the acceptable standard required by the UK Highway Code and represent a breach of your statutory duty to maintain safe and accessible public spaces.
Therefore, I request the following:
Immediate Action: A schedule of planned maintenance works to address the aforementioned issues on Woodlands Glade, including resurfacing the road and clearing the pavement vegetation. Timeline: A clear timeline for the completion of these works. I look forward to receiving your prompt response and a clear plan of action to rectify these issues and ensure that Woodlands Glade is brought up to the required safety and accessibility standards.
