  • We know that an important part of any road network is the drainage system which is designed to carry water away from the road surface. As a general rule ditches along the side of the road are the responsibility of whoever owns the land on which they are situated, they should maintain and keep the ditch capable of carrying water away from the road.

    The Highway Officer will carry out an inspection within 10 days and if it is the responsibility of Buckinghamshire Council and work is required, we will raise and order and have the work done.

    If the responsibility is with the landowner, we will not use taxpayers money to carry out the work, we will write to the land owner and request they carry out the necessary work on their land.

  • Update

    We have been to the site and found no evidence of that the ditch is blocked, this may mean that the landowner has already carried out work to remove the blockage prior to our visit or that it does not present any immediate safety to the public.
