The inside of the drain has nettles growing in it and needs to be thoroughly cleaned out

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6522110.
The drain at the foot of church lane, next to house 45 on the high street under the clock tower has lots of debris blocking it. But when I cleared the debris away by hand I noticed that the problem is reaching further than just a surface blockage! It has nettles growing inside of the drain and needs to be opened and thoroughly cleaned out, as it is not currently well maintained. This is an urgent matter as the houses on that side of the road are in danger of flooding with heavy rainfall due to all the rain washing down church lane turning into a stream that goes down to this drain. Please can this be done soon

This has been passed to the Highway Officer to investigate.
We know that an important part of any road network is the drainage system which is designed to carry water away from the road surface. Even when a gully is clean and well maintained it will only cope with a certain volume of water at one time, a sudden and heavy downpour can still cause flooding especially if the road is in a low lying area.
The Highway Officer is only able to inspect the drain when the water has cleared away, this will be done within 10 days and if required, an order will be raised to clear the drain.

An order has been raised to repair the issue reported, this will be a permanent repair to be carried out as soon as possible. However, there are occasions when a temporary repair is carried out for safety reasons until such time as we can mobilise resources to make the repair permanent.
To ensure the highway network remains as safe as possible we will continue to carry out our regular Highways Safety Inspections which will include this issue until such times as the permanent repair is made
