Blocked drains

Reported via mobile in the Blocked drain category anonymously at 15:55, Thursday 5 September 2024

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6440415.

Following the inspection & report back stating that the blocked drains do not have an impact on flooding by no 82 & flooding is temporary this may be so but there are no footpaths in this section & pedestrians need to walk on the verges - of which no 82 has a ditch which is lot always visible during flooding & other side is raised & the kerb is not visible. After a few hours heavy rain these verges can also become covered with water. This is also around a corner so not seen until cars come round the bend - anything to reduce this helps so in dry weather the 2 blocked drains do not look like an issue & would be limited help

Updates

  • This has been passed to the Highway Officer to investigate.

We know that an important part of any road network is the drainage system which is designed to carry water away from the road surface. Even when a gully is clean and well maintained it will only cope with a certain volume of water at one time, a sudden and heavy downpour can still cause flooding especially if the road is in a low lying area.

The Highway Officer is only able to inspect the drain when the water has cleared away, this will be done within 10 days and if required, an order will be raised to clear the drain.
