Outside 9 Beaumont Rise

Reported via mobile in the Flooding on a road/footpath category anonymously at 07:15, Thursday 11 July 2024

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6216165.

Every time it rains heavily this area floods in the road onto the footpath and onto the drive of No 7 & No9 Beaumont Rise. As the footpath is very narrow in our road this means pedestrians have to walk in the road to avoid the flooded area. This has been the case at least for the past 8 years that I have lived here

Updates

  • If the flooding is caused by a water leak we will report it to the relevant water company, who are responsible for water leaks.

There are occasions when flash flooding overloads the drain/gully, even when a drain/gully is clean and well maintained it can only cope with a certain volume of water at one time, a sudden and heavy downpour can still cause flooding especially if the road is in a low lying area, this generally clears away over a matter of hours.

The Highway Officer is only able to inspect the drain when the water has cleared away, this will be done within 10 days and if required, an order will be raised to clear the drain.

  • An order has been raised to repair the issue reported, this will be a permanent repair to be carried out as soon as possible. However, there are occasions when a temporary repair is carried out for safety reasons until such time as we can mobilise resources to make the repair permanent.

To ensure the highway network remains as safe as possible we will continue to carry out our regular Highways Safety Inspections which will include this issue until such times as the permanent repair is made
