Bend on Willow Ave
Reported via mobile in the Bridges category anonymously at 19:25, Thu 20 June 2024
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6134377.
The listed bridge was hit in January 2024. I reported this problem then. Reference number - 5233065. Since then nothing was done. A few days ago the bridge was hit again and the bricks are now on the pavement causing a hazard to passing cars and pedestrians using the road. Some bricks may have fallen into the river below.
Updates
-
Not all bridges and structures in Buckinghamshire are the responsibility Highways, other bodies that own bridges and structures include:
- Network Rail: structures associated with the ‘live’railway
- National Highways: Motorways
- Canal and River Trust
- Rights of Way
We undertake annual inspections of structures on the Highway that we are responsible for, including special inspections if needed (e.g., collision damage), we also carry out regular maintenance, along with strengthening works to keep our bridges and structures safe and operational, with a minimum of disruption.
The structures team will carry out an assessment of the bridge and if is our responsibility we will arrange for a site inspection and raise an order to carry out any works required.
If the bridge is not the responsibility of Buckinghamshire Highways we will forward this report to the relevant organisation.

Update
Buckinghamshire Highways operates two methods for safety defect identification; proactively by Highway Inspectors, who identify safety defects in line with Buckinghamshire Councils' Highway Safety Inspection Policy and reactively by Highway Officers, following reports from the public.
On receipt of reports, our Highway Inspection team make an assessment, determine if works are required and if so, the appropriate response times and repair method. It is in these instances only the larger defects are repaired; those which meet the safety intervention levels as outlined in the Inspection Policy. I can confirm that this section of road is currently on our Capital Maintenance list for extensive resurfacing which we hope will be carried out within the next 12-24 months. We always try were possible to adhere to the dates given, but unfortunately there are occasions when we have to delay the work due to unforeseen circumstances.
