Broad Lane /M40 bridge
Reported via mobile in the Bridges category anonymously at 08:56, Tue 18 June 2024
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6120697.
I notice 38 tonne Lorries park here waiting for the waste site. The other day I counted seven loaded lorries parked up here. That’s a lot of weight for the bridge to take. Nearly 280 tonnes! I just wondered if this is a problem?

Not all bridges and structures in Buckinghamshire are the responsibility Highways, other bodies that own bridges and structures include:
- Network Rail: structures associated with the ‘live’railway
- National Highways: Motorways
- Canal and River Trust
- Rights of Way
We undertake annual inspections of structures on the Highway that we are responsible for, including special inspections if needed (e.g., collision damage), we also carry out regular maintenance, along with strengthening works to keep our bridges and structures safe and operational, with a minimum of disruption.
The structures team will carry out an assessment of the bridge and if is our responsibility we will arrange for a site inspection and raise an order to carry out any works required.
If the bridge is not the responsibility of Buckinghamshire Highways we will forward this report to the relevant organisation.

Update
We have fully investigated your issue and found that the area/issue is not the responsibility of Buckinghamshire Council.
Unfortunately, we do not hold landownership details, an option for you would be to contact Land Registry, who will be able to provide you with the ownership/responsibility details so that you can progress you enquiry/issue further.
Apologies that we could not be more helpful, I am sure you can understand that we must only use public money to repair/resolve issues we are responsible for.
