Reported via mobile in the Flooding on a road/footpath category anonymously at 23:05, Sun 16 June 2024
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6114764.
Blocked surface water drain causing flooding onto the carriageway and flooding across the entrance to 4 properties. This has been ongoing for several years but this winter has reached the point where pedestrian access to the Anderdons Farm barns is prevented everytime there is a downpour.
Previously reported, ref 6018256, fix-my-street response on 29 May as follows: "The Highway Officer has attended the site and has resolved the issue".
The problem has not been fixed, either in May 2024 or at any time since 2018. The first attached photo was taken at midday on 15 June 2024. The second photo is October 2018. The frequency of flooding is getting worse. The second photo dates back to October 2018.
Updates
-
If the flooding is caused by a water leak we will report it to the relevant water company, who are responsible for water leaks.
There are occasions when flash flooding overloads the drain/gully, even when a drain/gully is clean and well maintained it can only cope with a certain volume of water at one time, a sudden and heavy downpour can still cause flooding especially if the road is in a low lying area, this generally clears away over a matter of hours.
The Highway Officer is only able to inspect the drain when the water has cleared away, this will be done within 10 days and if required, an order will be raised to clear the drain.
