Huge leylandii hedge opposite houses in south maundin

Reported via mobile in the Hedge problem category anonymously at 14:40, Mon 10 June 2024

Sent to Hughenden Parish Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6088428.

The enormous hedge opposite the houses in South Maundin used to be maintained by the original land owners (Bovis) in conjunction with South Maundin residents. Some years ago residents of houses on the Valley Road covertly bought the land on which the hedge stands from Bovis. They promised to maintain both the height and face of them every 3 years to required standards. This has not happened and they have now got out of hand and are overlapping the verge of the road (owned and maintained by the Counci l) and are all of various heights,One house in partcicular has refused to have them cut and has erected a fence instead. They are so invasive that they set off the collision alarms on passing cars and large vans run through them. Sometimes Valley Road owners or their children have been known to pass through through their rear gardens via the into South Maundin ( I don't think there is a right of way) which is a risk to both them and passing drivers who cannot see them until it is too late because of the overgrowth.Council workers trying to maintain the verge are unable to do so
