Manhole cover bangs when driven over
Reported via iOS in the Manhole cover broken/missing category anonymously at 22:16, Sun 9 June 2024
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6085344.
Outside 19 Brimmers Hill there is a man hole cover on the side of the road closest to the school. Anytime someone drives over it there are two loud bangs in quick succession. This is a relatively new development and wakes us up at night. Can something please be done to prevent this noise nuisance. When the weather gets warmer and people start needing windows open at night the noise will inevitably wake residents up. Pleas also note that at night cars drive more quickly causing a louder bang. There is little point surveying this during the day when everyone is driving at lower speeds.
Updates
-
Almost all manhole covers have some form of identification on them, and it is likely that the manhole cover is owned by a utility company, who are legally responsible for maintaining it.
This report has been passed to the Highway Officer, who will carry out an inspection within the next 10 working days and if it is found to be the responsibility of Buckinghamshire Highways we will take the appropriate action. If, however, it is found to be the responsibility of the utility company we will report the issue to them, but please note we have no control regarding how long it will take to be fixed by the utility company.
