Drain blocked by mud
Reported via desktop in the Blocked drain category anonymously at 16:13, Monday 15 April 2024
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5856055.
I have previously reported this blocked drain. Was advised that inspection had to wait for the water to go down. My photo clearly shows this drain totally blocked in a thick layer of mud. Please could this drain be unblocked as a matter of urgency before it causes flooding issues in the lane towards Pargrove or dries out and blocks the drain with solid mud. Thank you

This has been passed to the Highway Officer to investigate.
We know that an important part of any road network is the drainage system which is designed to carry water away from the road surface. Even when a gully is clean and well maintained it will only cope with a certain volume of water at one time, a sudden and heavy downpour can still cause flooding especially if the road is in a low lying area.
The Highway Officer is only able to inspect the drain when the water has cleared away, this will be done within 10 days and if required, an order will be raised to clear the drain.

An order has been raised to repair the issue reported, this will be a permanent repair to be carried out as soon as possible. However, there are occasions when a temporary repair is carried out for safety reasons until such time as we can mobilise resources to make the repair permanent.
To ensure the highway network remains as safe as possible we will continue to carry out our regular Highways Safety Inspections which will include this issue until such times as the permanent repair is made
