There is a soakaway drain between 264 and 266 Chartridge lane on the slip road providing access to 264 to 274 Chartridge lane

Reported via mobile in the Blocked drain category anonymously at 15:05, Wednesday 10 April 2024

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5835085.

The drain is blocked and as a result a large pool of water develops during significant rainfall which develops into a stream across the driveway of 264 Chartridge lane. This has happened at least 12 times in the past year. We have reported this on many occasions under reference 40115883 where we were advised it would be covered in the cyclical gully program and again in November 2021 reference 40178787. It was recognised that the water did not flow and jets would be required. To our knowledge it was last emptied on 2/3/2023 when the operative stated that the problem required further remedial action and he would report it. The problem still persists.

Updates

  • This has been passed to the Highway Officer to investigate.

We know that an important part of any road network is the drainage system which is designed to carry water away from the road surface. Even when a gully is clean and well maintained it will only cope with a certain volume of water at one time, a sudden and heavy downpour can still cause flooding especially if the road is in a low lying area.

The Highway Officer is only able to inspect the drain when the water has cleared away, this will be done within 10 days and if required, an order will be raised to clear the drain.
