Beaumont Rise, Marlow outside no 28

Reported via desktop in the Manhole cover broken/missing category anonymously at 09:43, Tue 13 February 2024

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5569901.

The storm drain makes a noise when a car drives over it, which is every time someone drives down our road as it is a one way road and very narrow. Also the tarmac is cracked either side of the drain cover so is it safe?

Updates

  • Almost all manhole covers have some form of identification on them, and it is likely that the manhole cover is owned by a utility company, who are legally responsible for maintaining it.

This report has been passed to the Highway Officer, who will carry out an inspection within the next 10 working days and if it is found to be the responsibility of Buckinghamshire Highways we will take the appropriate action. If, however, it is found to be the responsibility of the utility company we will report the issue to them, but please note we have no control regarding how long it will take to be fixed by the utility company.

  • Update

The Highway Officer has attended the site and carried an inspection based on your report.

It is regrettably the case that the limited annual funding available to Buckinghamshire Council each year is insufficient to address all defects identified immediately. For this reason, whilst priority defects will receive a repair within appropriate timescales as dictated by our Highways Safety Inspection Policy, more minor defects such as the defect you have reported are added to a schedule of works which is passed to our contractor, with the instruction the work is to be carried out within 6-8 weeks.

    State changed to: Action scheduled
