Roadworks on Station Road

Hello,

Since Friday 12th, there have been Temp Traffic lights on Station Road, including today Tuesday 16th Jan 2024 with no visible works taking place. The issue is the major traffic congestion for works that are actually on the footpath!!!

The congestion on the road 24x7 is not in keeping with the Councils green strategy.

Questions I would like answering: 1. Why is this allowed (traffic cones/temp lights in place) when not needed when not working? 2. Why aren't the contractor held accountable for this inefficiently? 3. Why didn't the contractor remove the traffic cones/temp lights when not working on the site?

  • This has been passed to the local area technician to investigate, they will carry out an inspection within the next 10 working days and if required arrange to resolve the issue.

    The issue/defect has been made safe with a temporary repair. A permanent repair will be made when resource is available.

    Please be assured, we will continue to monitor the area in line with our Highways Safety Inspection Policy.
