Outside the entrance to Appletrees, on the north side of the road into Askett from the A4010 roundabout

Reported via desktop in the Blocked drain category anonymously at 21:05, Tue 12 December 2023

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5313548.

In November 2022, following an unsuccessful attempt to repair a leaking drain running under the pavement outside Appletrees, water welled up through the pavement and the driveway into Appletrees during heavy rain. The recently installed asphalt / tarmac patch in the pavement lifted forming a 1 to 2 inch step, aggregate was washed out from beneath the patch and a hole washed in its southern side. The problem was reported. It was inspected and scheduled to be repaired within 6 weeks. It has still not been repaired. Recent heavy rain worsened the damage and washed another hole in the pavement, as shown in the photos. The damaged pavement now constitutes a significant trip hazard to pedestrians, and its condition will only deteriorate with further rain. Can the drain please be cleared, the leak repaired, and the pavement repaired and made safe as a matter of urgency?

Updates

  • This has been passed to the Local Area Technician to investigate.

We know that an important part of any road network is the drainage system which is designed to carry water away from the road surface. Even when a gully is clean and well maintained it will only cope with a certain volume of water at one time, a sudden and heavy downpour can still cause flooding especially if the road is in a low lying area.
