Blocked drain

Reported via Android in the Blocked drain category anonymously at 18:21, Wed 8 November 2023

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5189763.

This drain has been totally blocked for many months or maybe years. I have attempted to unblock it, but if you lift the cover it is solid, compacted earth. I reported it at our local flood fair and the Bucks employee looked on your map and said it is not registered on your system - hence it does not get cleaned ever. She said she had now logged it on your system, but nothing has been done. It regularly leads to flooding with only a small amount of rain - I can send a video. The water breaches the road and runs as a river down the entire length of the Causeway. Market day is a nightmare as every stall has a river running through the middle. Please come and fix it and don't say 'it will be cleaned on the regular annual clean" - it is not, it does not. This is the 4th time I have reported it. Thank you

Updates

  • This has been passed to the Local Area Technician to investigate.

We know that an important part of any road network is the drainage system which is designed to carry water away from the road surface. Even when a gully is clean and well maintained it will only cope with a certain volume of water at one time, a sudden and heavy downpour can still cause flooding especially if the road is in a low lying area.
