Water coming out of road drain outside 2A Craigwell Avenue

Reported via desktop in the Blocked drain category anonymously at 13:54, Tue 7 November 2023

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5184677.

The weather was dry and there had been no significant rain for a day or so. This morning at approximately 9am water began overflowing from the road drain and started flowing down the road to the next road drain at approx 4 Craigwell Avenue. Water was also seen at the top of the drain on the otherside of the road to 2A Craigwell. Water also backed up into our rain water drains on 2A. This incident lasted about 15 minutes after which the drains slowly emptied on their own. We have previously reported a problem with this drain during a storm, however we were concerned that a significant quantity of water was coming from the drain after a period of dry weather. Thank you for your help.

Updates

  • This has been passed to the Local Area Technician to investigate.

We know that an important part of any road network is the drainage system which is designed to carry water away from the road surface. Even when a gully is clean and well maintained it will only cope with a certain volume of water at one time, a sudden and heavy downpour can still cause flooding especially if the road is in a low lying area.
