Plomer Hill/A40 junction

Reported via mobile in the Traffic lights & crossings problems with timings category anonymously at 18:21, Wed 25 October 2023

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5137634.

This junction needs a yellow box. Traffic queues on the junction then drives through the pedestrian crossing when the green man is lit. The pedestrian crossing is not safe for my son. Also, the traffic light phasing needs review. When westbound A40 traffic is turning right up the hill and Plomer Hill traffic is turning left onto the A40, twice a westbound car going straight on A40 has gone straight through a red light and over the pedestrian crossing when the green man was lit because they've got confused. No traffic is in their way -Traffic is turning either up or down hill and not turning across them - but the pedestrian crossing is in use and they put pedestrians in danger. All westbound a40 traffic needs stopping when pedestrian light is green to avoid confusion or there may be an accident.
