Henley Road outside Havenholme.

Havenholme’s drive has been washed away for the 4th time this year from flood water coming off Henley road. This incident happened last night. Unfortunately the remedial work taken recently to the crossover did not divert enough of the heavy flow towards the footpath. Following a useful site meeting with a flood relief team member the remedial work to the crossover was put in hand. From this meeting it was evident a number of further measures needed to be undertaken: 1. The 2 soakaways either side of the Henley road redrilled 10m into the chalk below. 2. Clean out blocked gulley near corner with Highfield Park road and the connecting drain jetted. 3. The road kerbs raised to 60mm at the crossover. 4. Dig out the ditch which flows down the footpath beside Havenholme from a 150mm pipe which is connected to the soakaway in the grass verge. This will help to alleviate water back up and flooding in front of the house. This ditch does not go into a soak away. I suggest one should be built at the bottom of the footpath close to the gate where there is ample space. This would make a significant difference for Havenholme and The Rushes.
I look forward to hearing from you again with news when these works will be undertaken. Steven Bryant
This has been passed to the Local Area Technician to investigate.
If the flooding is caused by a water leak we will report it to the relevant utility company to repair.
