The traffic calming island near Tollgate st

Reported via mobile in the Sign problem category anonymously at 17:49, Monday 18 September 2023

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5007116.

Decided to report this again because I do not believe the traffic calming island and signs are safe. First a motorcyclist broke their leg going into the sign. Today a van crashed into the sign. Even with the “new road layout signs” I repeat that the current setup/layout is lethal and high risk, note high risk of fatalities. I write politely on the following grounds: (1) crashes so far (2) There is already a calming gate (3) the calming gate sets up an expectation that there will not be another calming measure so soon (4) the evening sun angle of incidence makes the traffic calming difficult to see. (5) the traffic calmer is too close to the traffic calming gate to be effective. (6) Traffic has to swing out into traffic which suddenly appears from a blind corner (7) residential traffic from Tollgate street is not always prepared to wait while traffic swerved the calming measure suggest g that priorities become confused. (8) Despite being a regular and experienced comfortable driver coming into the village, well used to this junction, I still feel uneasy about it - it’s not right.
