Drains have been tarmaced over!

Reported via desktop in the Blocked drain category anonymously at 15:39, Monday 18 September 2023

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5006559.

Kiln Lane, Hedgerley, has suffered from breakdown of the road surface and as a result South Bucks council has attempted to fill the potholes to make an improvement in the road surface. As a result of the attempted improvement the council has used Tarmac to fill the potholes, however, the operatives carrying out the work have completely tarmaced over the drains in the roads,(approx 150m from the Hedgerley end of Kiln Lane), so now whenever it rains the road is completely flooded making it impassable for days, this has been going on for approximately 6 months and will become continuously flooded when the winter arrives as the rain will not evaporate. This is clearly unacceptable and dangerous to cars, dog walkers and walkers in general and needs the council’s attention at the earliest convenience to remedy the problem before the Autumn and Winter seasons arrive and clear the drains of the tarmac laid over them.

Updates

  • This has been passed to the Local Area Technician to investigate.

We know that an important part of any road network is the drainage system which is designed to carry water away from the road surface. Even when a gully is clean and well maintained it will only cope with a certain volume of water at one time, a sudden and heavy downpour can still cause flooding especially if the road is in a low lying area.
