Chequers Lane

Reported via desktop in the Road lines / road markings category anonymously at 11:58, Thu 3 August 2023

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4854905.

Hi there, There are in excess of 20 horses stabled around Chequers Lane. We ride out from there either down Chequers Lane or off towards Harecramp Cottages and also across the Marlow Road to Bigmore Lane. These are the only ways we can access the Bridleways. There is no signage and people are driving very fast around there not knowing that there are horses. Please could you inspect the area with a view to erecting signage - ideally as you come off Marlow Road and also in or near Fingest and at the Bridleways where they intersect the lane? So as the bridleway goes off to Harecramp Cottages and where it intersects further on to go towards Cadmore End as well as where it is marked "Gravesend" on the map. I am very concerned about there being an accident on Chequers Lane with a vehicle and horse, there are many blind bends and this is a 60mph road. A motorist could easily collide with a horse as the verges are overgrown and the road is quite slippery. It is not wide enough to pass by with a horse so we would need to have time and space to move to a pull in place.
