Blocked drain on road

Reported via mobile in the Blocked drain category anonymously at 12:20, Tue 20 June 2023

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4693544.

There is a blocked drain on Oxford road outside Londis. Every time it rains for more than 30 minutes the road fills with water and there is large amounts of standing water on the road. The excess run off from the road then pours into our flat carpark (9-10 Oxford road)causing flooding which is around 12 inch deep. Over the last 2 weeks the flood water has come dangerously close to entering a number of properties numerous times. This is only happening because the local drains on the property can't cope with all the run off of the road.

Updates

  • This has been passed to the Local Area Technician to investigate.

We know that an important part of any road network is the drainage system which is designed to carry water away from the road surface. Even when a gully is clean and well maintained it will only cope with a certain volume of water at one time, a sudden and heavy downpour can still cause flooding especially if the road is in a low lying area.
