There is a continous flow of water running down Moat Lane resulting in a hazard to pedestrians and traffic.

Reported via desktop in the Ditch issue category anonymously at 14:57, Wednesday 17 May 2023

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4566081.

Water is flowing down Moat Lane which creates several hazards for traffic and pedistrians. It freezes in winter and has now also created slippery areas with algea and mud etc on the higheway. This appears to have gotten worse when the road was resurfaced a number of years ago. I think it's linked to blocked ditches causing water to run off the surrounding land but I can't be sure.

Updates

  • We know that an important part of any road network is the drainage system which is designed to carry water away from the road surface. As a general rule ditches along the side of the road are the responsibility of whoever owns the land on which they are situated, they should maintain and keep the ditch capable of carrying water away from the road.

The Local Area Technician will carry out an inspection within 10 days and if it is the responsibility of Buckinghamshire Council and a repair is required, we will carry out the work. If the responsibility is with the landowner, we will write to them and request they carry out the necessary work.

  • Update

We have been to the site and found no evidence of that the ditch is blocked, this may mean that the landowner has already carried out work to remove the blockage prior to our visit.
