There’s a huge drain in here. At least there used to be. As you can see it’s so full and blocked it now looks like a planter. The road floods spectacularly here, it lifts the road surface, floods our house, and makes the road really dangerous. Please trim back the hedge and reinstate the drain. Thank you

    We know that an important part of any road network is the drainage system which is designed to carry water away from the road surface. Even when a gully is clean and well maintained it will only cope with a certain volume of water at one time, a sudden and heavy downpour can still cause flooding especially if the road is in a low lying area.

  • Update

    We operate an annual gully cleansing programme, and our assessment has concluded that the issue reported will be resolved as part of this programme, should the team carrying out the clearance find any other issues these will be looked into and prioritised for a solution.

    Please be assured, we will continue to monitor the area in line with our Highways Safety Inspection Policy.
