Dust Levels on Road

Reported via desktop in the Cleaning/Sweeping category anonymously at 09:03, Wednesday 26 April 2023

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council 2 weeks, 2 days, 2 hours later. FixMyStreet ref: 4486851.

I met with a gentleman on Pinstone Way as part of HS2 community engagement - he was upset with the level of dust on his road - unfortunately as it was unrelated to our works we were unable to assist. There are a huge number of HGVs travelling on Pinstone Way to the industrial yard at the bottom (MJL Plant Hire, West London Quality Tyres, Falcon Express Scaffolding, Gladwins Storage Limited). In the hour we were there we witnessed over 40 large vans and HGVs pass by, each time kicking up enough dust for our healthy lungs to cough. As a vulnerable person, we have referred the resident to ASC but would appreciate your action in resolving the dust issues (perhaps weekly sweeps?)

Updates

  • This has been passed to the local area technician to investigate the enquiry/issue regarding a pothole/road surface.

During winter months we receive a very high number of reports regarding potholes or a poor road surface, it's easy to assume that potholes are formed due to roads being poorly maintained but that is not usually the case. There are many factors that can cause potholes, particularly during the winter months when water seeps in through cracks in the road surface, collecting underneath and when the water freezes, it expands and forces up the road surface in through cracks in the road surface.

Our priority is always the safety of road users, so in some cases during busy periods a permanent repair is not always possible immediately. However, temporary repairs are a way to ensure the area is safe until such times as we can return to make a permanent repair.
