The Vale Chalfont St Peter
Reported via desktop in the Pothole category anonymously at 19:08, Fri 14 April 2023
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4440909.
On Wednesday I saw 3 buckinghamshire council lorries and 6 workers observing a pothole in The Vale at the entry to Hampden Road. Then on Thursday 2 buckinghamshire council lorries and 4 workers were seen attending to this hole. Approx 10 yards further up the vale there are two very bad potholes outside Stringers Cottage and another approx 15 yards further from them at the junction with Penn Road is another - these remain not dealt with despite 10 workers in total across two days and 5 council highway vans being in the location. No wonder the council tax is so expensive. Please explain

This has been passed to the local area technician to investigate the enquiry/issue regarding a pothole/road surface.
During winter months we receive a very high number of reports regarding potholes or a poor road surface, it's easy to assume that potholes are formed due to roads being poorly maintained but that is not usually the case. There are many factors that can cause potholes, particularly during the winter months when water seeps in through cracks in the road surface, collecting underneath and when the water freezes, it expands and forces up the road surface in through cracks in the road surface.
Our priority is always the safety of road users, so in some cases during busy periods a permanent repair is not always possible immediately. However, temporary repairs are a way to ensure the area is safe until such times as we can return to make a permanent repair.
