Dangerous road surface, massive potholes, road flooded

Reported via desktop in the Road surface category anonymously at 12:09, Friday 14 April 2023

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4438954.

I reported this weeks ago, nothing has been done! The whole of Rowley Lane and Black Park Road has massive potholes, the road surface is breaking up, the whole road is constantly flooded. You have to drive in the middle of the road to avoid huge potholes. It is dangerous. Why are huge cement and soil/earth/soil lorries now constantly using this tiny country lane to transport soil to Wexham Park Golf club etc. Are lorries using the premises of UK READY MIX CONCRETE LTD as a cut through to get to the golf club. This lane is not designed for heavy, large construction vehicles. The companies concerned should pay for the complete road to be resurfaced.

Updates

  • This has been passed to the local area technician to investigate the enquiry/issue regarding a pothole/road surface.

During winter months we receive a very high number of reports regarding potholes or a poor road surface, it's easy to assume that potholes are formed due to roads being poorly maintained but that is not usually the case. There are many factors that can cause potholes, particularly during the winter months when water seeps in through cracks in the road surface, collecting underneath and when the water freezes, it expands and forces up the road surface in through cracks in the road surface.

Our priority is always the safety of road users, so in some cases during busy periods a permanent repair is not always possible immediately. However, temporary repairs are a way to ensure the area is safe until such times as we can return to make a permanent repair.

  • An order has been raised to repair the defect reported, this will be a permanent repair to be carried out within the next 16 weeks. To ensure the highway network remains as safe as possible we will be carrying out temporary repairs on dangerous issues to make them safe, please be assured we will revisit these temporary repairs and make them permanent at a later date, we will also continue to carry out our regular Highways Safety Inspection Policy and should we find any issues we will apply the same rule a temporary repair until such time as we can make it permanent.
