Amersham Road, Hazlemere

Reported via desktop in the Footpath / pavement problem category anonymously at 17:13, Saturday 18 March 2023

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later

I have lived in Hazlemere for over 20 years and witnessed a deterioration of the pavements a long Amersham Road in Hazlemere. The road is getting busier each year and as a pedestrian and keen walker myself feel quite vulnerable walking on the pavements as they are very narrow in some places with uneven surfaces. The road is not only a main road into Wycombe but an essential route for the local community. Many vulnerable, young and older people, use this road not only to drive but as pedestrians. I feel it is important to ensure we keep the pavements useable to ensure the community remains safe. Thank you for your consideration with this matter.

Updates

  • This has been passed to the local area technician to investigate the enquiry/issue regarding the footpath/pavement/cyclepath.

They will carry out an inspection within the next 10 working days and if required arrange to resolve the issue.

  • Buckinghamshire Council highway maintenance has been delivered through a partnership called Transport for Buckinghamshire for 13 years.

From 1st April all Highways services will be delivered through a new organisational structure known as Buckinghamshire Highways. This will result in the future delivery of highways services via a new suite of contractors, operating as an alliance to better reflect the needs and priorities of our residents across the county.

We are currently in the transition period and to ensure the highway network remains safe we will be carrying out temporary repairs on high priority defects. Permanent repairs will follow.

We will also continue to carry out our regular highway safety inspections and should we find any issues we will apply the same rule.

Historical reports are being transferred to the new system, and we will ensure they are revisited during the coming months.

Thank you in advance for your patience and continued support.
